Do you trust your intuition?

“Your intuition is the most honest friend that you will ever have.” – Doe Zantamata

I love this quote… because it’s SO true!

Rather you know it or not, each one of us has intuition! Some refer to it as a “gut” feeling. It’s that little feeling steering you in a certain direction.

And over the years, I have really learned how to listen to my intuition. And it’s led me to some really cool experiences!  Check this out...

I was scheduling a client and “accidentally” scheduled her at an odd time leaving me with a 45 min gap.  Not quite enough time for another client and extending my day longer.  Generally I schedule my clients closer together to make my time more efficient. But right as I was about to correct myself and tell the client I meant to say an earlier time… I heard a thought that said.. no leave it. Even though it didn’t make sense I was aware enough to know this was my intuition and even though it didn’t make sense to me I decided to leave the gap in appointments. The day came and my client had a friend with her visiting, and she asked if by chance I had the time for her as well. In that moment I smiled and “why yes, I do“. I was immediately aware of why I had “accidentally” scheduled my client with that gap. Because I listened, I made an extra $150 and I made someones day by being able to fit her in. It was a win win.

And while it’s never steered me wrong, there’s have been times where I haven’t listened to my intuition.

I had a short break between clients with (in a perfect  world) just enough time to run an important errand.  I have created a habit of automatically grounding my path with intention and asking angels for green lights… especially when I am in a hurry :)   I was driving and had a quick fleeting thought to turn right and take a different less direct path. I quickly dismissed it thinking why would I do that?  Nah, I will go this way, its more direct. Well,  it turns out my more “direct way” had a light out and it took twice as long to get there and in turn I was 10 min late getting back to my appointment.   I realized as soon as  I saw the blinking red light that that whisper I ignored was my angels and intuition trying to guide me in a way that would have allowed me to avoid the detour and get back on time.

So, as you can tell, I would be much wiser to listen to it!

The great thing about consciously practicing your intuition muscle is these types of situation.. in both accounts, when I listened and when I didn’t both gave me a deeper validation to recognize and trust that quiet whisper of divine guidance.

Over in my Enlightened Entrepreneurs Facebook Community, we practice Empowered Intuition Thursday. It’s a day we talk intuition. (Want to join us? Click here to join!)

And today I want to hear from you – what are your thoughts on intuition? Do you trust yours more often than not? And if so, what have you done to follow your intuition this week? Anything cool happen as a result?  Please share a comment below!

Are you overwhelmed? Here’s how to handle it…

As entrepreneurs, brides-to-be, parents… whatever title you hold, it can be easy to be overwhelmed with a long to-do list. And when I’m working with my clients or talking with entrepreneurs to help them bring more energy and balance back in to their businesses, one of the things that always comes up is that they feel like they just don’t have enough time to do what they *want* to be doing because they have SO much on their to do list.

Can you relate?

If so, I want to help you remedy that today by sharing a tip that you can implement right away!

Step one is to make a list of all the things you don’t enjoy or don’t know how to do that hold you back from focusing on what you do want to be doing.   The things to put on this list are the things that weigh on your shoulders when you think about having to do them and so you end up procrastinating and then beat up on yourself for not getting these items done.  Things such as your bookkeeping, or scheduling out your social media, or cleaning your house, or researching vendors for an upcoming event.

Okay… got your list?

Great.  Now I want you to go through this list and circle your top stressors.  What are the top 3 items on this list that you could do, but don’t HAVE to do.  Circle those 3 things!

Now, the final step is to think about how you can unload or delegate these 3 items to someone else.  Maybe you need to hire a maid. Maybe you need a bookkeeper or a Virtual Assistant.  Whatever the support you need, you’ll want to make sure you put these items on your calendar and take action in getting them taken care of!

I know running a business can be overwhelming sometime! And that’s why I think it is so important to keep staying aware of where you really can reclaim balance in your business.  If you found today’s exercise helpful, I’d love to hear about it. Leave a comment on my blog below!

3 Steps to Stop Incessant Worrying

worryWe all know what it is like to fall into that vicious cycle of incessant worrying….right? It can feel nearly impossible to shift out of it at times. This pattern leaves you feeling drained, unfocused and down right miserable. Even worse, you feel lost in the powerlessness of your “problem”.

Today I want to share 3 quick steps to shift worrisome thoughts into a feeling of empowerment.  The great thing is it only takes a few minutes to make this shift happen, so I hope you’ll check out the tips below!

  1. Awareness is key: As soon as you become conscious of your worrisome thoughts– stop for a moment, close your eyes, place your hands on your heart and belly and just breathe….bringing your awareness to your body and breath.
  1. Willingness to let it go: When worry is taking over your mind, there is a sense of trying to control something or a feeling of being out of control and powerless.  Allow yourself to let it go and ask for help by turning this problem or concern over to God/Universe. Surrendering this will allow for a quicker, more peaceful resolution to come to you.
  1. Decide how you want to feel: Really take a moment to ask yourself how do you want to feel instead? (ex. more peace, joy, ease, etc)  Now ask what is the next step I can take to align myself with this desire?  Make sure you commit and actually follow through on this action step.

Check in with yourself often. Whenever you bring awareness to the monkey mind, you have the opportunity to take your power back from the “problem” and make an empowered choice instead. This puts you back on track for blissful living.

What matters MOST to you as a Bride-to-Be?

True or false:  “When planning my dream wedding, I have to please everyone to keep the peace…”

FALSE!

When it comes to planning your wedding, you want to make sure that when you walk down the aisle, you are experiencing the wedding of YOUR dreams, and not someone else’s.

You don’t want to be carrying resentment for 15 years into your marriage because you let things that mattered to you in your wedding go unmentioned. So instead of keeping silent, make sure you Know What Matters so that you can go into meeting with vendors and family with strong boundaries & a united front with fiance!

Need help figuring out what your NON-negotiables are when it comes to planning your wedding?  See below… I’m sharing an exercise to help you figure out what matters most to you when it comes to YOUR wedding!

{Blissful Bride Exercise}

Wedding flowers bouquetIt’s important to get it out of your head and on to paper to figure out what matters most. So, grab a sheet of paper and brainstorm the things that come to mind as things that you care most about most. As you read back through your list, narrow it down a little further by circling the things that really stand out to you as mattering most. These items are your matter NON-negotiables.

Have you already compromised with anything on this list? If so, make a little star next to it and go back and write an action step you can do to make this a priority again.

As always, I’d love to hear from you – what was your biggest takeaway from today’s exercise?  Leave me a comment below the blog letting me know… and also feel free to share what one of your non-negotiables are! I’d love to know!

{Keeping the Romance Strong Amidst the Stress of Wedding Planning!}

Do you read Real Weddings Magazine? I hope so… it’s an incredible resouse for those of you planning your wedding!  I was recently featured in Real Weddings Magazine on how to keep the romance strong while planning your wedding!  I invite you to check it out below… and be sure to leave a comment over on their blog! I’d love to hear your thoughts around this!

{Keeping the Romance Strong Amidst the Stress of Wedding Planning!}

Sacramento WeddingsWorking with brides for more than 15 years, I have seen time and time again the relationship with their fiancé become strained during the engagement because of the intensity of wedding planning. Stress kicks in with all of the decisions to be made, overwhelming schedules take over (trying to meet with all of the vendors), communication goes out of the window… and before you know it, the intimacy and romance take a back seat before the marriage even begins!

Much of this is due to stress, lack of self care, and the breakdown of clear communication. You might be thinking…“Well, how the heck can I change that? There is just soooo much to do!” My advice? It comes down to three things: Connection, Communication and Commitment.

Connection

Make a time to have a non-wedding related date night on the calendar once a week.   What I mean by non-wedding related is that you make an agreement to NOT discuss the wedding at all during this time together…admittedly, it’s difficult as you’re excited about your wedding planning, but it’s essential. Even if it is just enjoying each other’s company for dinner and a movie at home—one day a week where you commit to spending quality time together genuinely connecting and having fun being a couple.

Communication

It is also important to schedule some specific times in your calendar to talk openly and clearly about the wedding arrangements. How often may vary depending on where you are at in the planning process. Once a week is great, even if it’s just to touch base briefly. This is vital so that you are both sure your feelings are being heard and considered.  It also sets you up to have “normal” living and conversation throughout the rest of the week. Not that you aren’t going to chat wedding here and there on non-scheduled times, but setting up this designated time will help you get a lot discussed in a short amount of time, leaving more balance in your life. It’s a great time to really practice being present to both talk and to also actively listen to one another. Neither of you can read each other’s mind, so it’s important for you both to speak up about your thoughts while planning the wedding—you don’t want resentment to occur during the wedding planning process that could potentially carry over to your married life.

Feeling Stressed? Remember WHY you are getting married!

brideAs a Bride-to-Be, your WHY is the most important foundational piece to planning a calm, radiant and beautiful wedding experience. Your WHY lives in your heart-space –where our deepest motivations come from– and everything you do in your wedding planning process will be guided by it. Knowing your WHY helps you stay Blissful and not sweat the small stuff, all the way from “Yes” to “I Do.”

Below is an exercise I created and share with my private clients to support them in feeling like a truly blissful bride in moments of stress.  I hope you will take some time to complete this exercise!

Take a moment (10-15 minutes) and consider your WHY in the space below. Please note, this does not need to be perfect! Don’t worry about grammar, wording, or spelling — just focus on your feelings and write whatever comes up.

Your WHY is a compilation of:

  • how you FEEL,
  • what you THINK (about your partner, your relationship and what led you here)
  • and your hopes and dreams for the future.

Now that you have your WHY, I want you to keep this in a safe place so that you can refer back to it whenever you need this important reminder.  And, as you go forward in planning your wedding, whenever you are feeling stressed, pull this out and remember WHY you are getting married!

As always, I’d love to hear from you – what was your biggest takeaway from today’s exercise?  Leave me a comment over on my blog letting me know… and also feel free to share your WHY in the comments below!
